The Weekends
by Biggins, 17 Dec 2008 09:05 PM |
Within a genre of repetition "The Weekends" fit right into the groove. It's too easy to pick apart the "Pop Punk" genre, but in building it up I can hear influences within The Weekends that allow for hope that maybe they might bring something unique to the table. It may be hopeful thinking as it all screams "Demographic Specific." At the very least you can dress them up in metro punk fashion and sell it to some teeny boppers.
The musicianship is solid, the singer holds her own. It's too bubble gum for my tastes, but for a 14 year old girl this may be just the right thing.
I've heard a lot of terrible pop punk bands, these guys don't sit in that category. They don't bring enough difference to be something that I would pick up, but definitely something to check out if you're into bands like "Blink 182, The Anniversary, Green Day, Cub, alike".
