            <description><![CDATA[The Radio Star National Talent Search (formerly the Radio Star  National Songwriting Competition) is currently underway. Through  December 16, 2011, emerging Canadian artists can submit their songs at www.radiostar.ca for a chance to win $10,000 in cash plus thousands of dollars in music equipment, services, and more. For more than 18 years, the competition has been providing an  opportunity to Canadian artists to be discovered by radio programmers,  music publishers, industry executives, and audiences alike across  Canada. The contest expands this year to include artists in all genres  while giving the public the opportunity to listen to and cast a vote for  every single entry. The top 50 bands will then move on to the finals,  where the Grand Prize winner will take the title of Radio Star and  collect their rewards.             <description><![CDATA[Award and showcase submissions for 2012 East Coast Music Week,  being held in Moncton, NB from April 11-15, are now open.&nbsp; The 2012 event will see the return of the following Showcase  stages: Bluebird North Showcase, Rising Star, Rock Stage, Roots Room,  Soundwaves, Songwriters Circle, and the Canadian Music East Coast Style  Export Buyers Showcase. Additionally, there will be two new stages: the  Breakout Stage and the Country Stage.The ECMA is also accepting submissions for awards in the  categories of Music, Industry, and Honourary.  East Coast artists who  have released recordings between June 1, 2010 and October 1, 2011 are  eligible to submit for consideration to an East Coast Music Award.
